CARBONDALE – A Carbondale man wanted on a federal probation violation warrant was arrested on gun-related charges following an incident in the 700 block of East Grand Avenue late Saturday night.
According to Carbondale Police, officers saw 36-year-old Hakeem I. Smith in that area and knew he was wanted on the warrant.
When police tried to arrest him, Smith resisted, causing a minor injury to an officer. Officers also found he had a loaded firearm. In addition to the warrant, Smith was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and Felony Resisting a Peace Officer. Smith was booked in the Jackson County Jail, pending a detention hearing.
