PALATINE/MT. VERNON – A Mt. Vernon man was arrested by Palatine Police Tuesday on a Jefferson County arrest warrant charging Child Pornography.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, 54-year-old David E. Edwards was held at the Palatine Police Department to await his pre-trial detention hearing and transfer back to Jefferson County.

The warrant for Edwards’ arrest was a result of an investigation by the sheriff’s office Detective Division, who are members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The investigation began on July 14 from a cybertip provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children resulting in several search warrants for electronic devices, data, and eventually a search warrant for Edwards’s home in Mt. Vernon. The search warrants resulted in collection and seizure of multiple items of evidence.

When the investigation was completed, the information was sent to the State’s Attorney’s office for review. An arrest warrant for Edwards was issued.
