MARION – CorePath Laboratories is proud to announce the launch of an integrated digital pathology network in collaboration with Deaconess Illinois Medical Center, marking a major milestone in advancing diagnostic pathology services in the region. This initiative represents a forward-thinking solution designed to improve patient care with quick results, enhance diagnostic efficiency and ensure long-term sustainability for the underserved community with the physicians’ shortage.
By leveraging state-of-the-art digital pathology technology, Deaconess Illinois Medical Center will now benefit from secure whole-slide imaging, remote subspecialty consultation and enhanced collaboration among pathologists without compromising quality, turnaround time or clinical integration.
The program enables CorePath’s pathologists to provide high-quality diagnostic interpretation while expanding access to expertise that may otherwise be limited by geography or staffing constraints.
“Digital pathology is no longer the future, it is the present,” said Dr. Bridget Herschap, Board Certified Pathologist and Medical Director at Deaconess Illinois Medical Center. “In an era of critical pathologist shortages, this collaboration allows us to deliver consistent, high-quality care while supporting hospital partners and strengthening pathology as a specialty. Digital pathology turns glass slides into data and data into decisions. It brings the right diagnosis to the right patient, faster.”
This successful launch underscores CorePath Laboratories’ mission to bring scalable, technology-driven solutions to hospitals nationwide as healthcare systems face increasing challenges related to pathologist workforce shortages, strengthening pathology services while supporting clinicians and patients alike.
“This collaboration ensures continuity, quality and resilience in our pathology services,” said Charity Arnold, Deaconess Illinois Regional Director of Laboratory Services. “Digital pathology allows us to meet today’s demands while positioning Deaconess Illinois for the future of diagnostics.”
Beyond operational benefits, the program reflects a shared commitment to innovation, patient safety and community-focused healthcare delivery. Digital pathology also creates opportunities for quality assurance, education and multidisciplinary collaboration, reinforcing pathology’s essential role in modern medicine.
“Our partnership with CorePath marks a significant advancement in how we deliver care to our patients,” said William Davis, Region President of Deaconess Illinois. “By integrating digital pathology, we are enhancing diagnostic precision, improving efficiency and supporting timelier clinical decision-making, allowing us to better serve our patients and providers across the region. Deaconess Illinois is proud to continue these transformative partnerships that embrace technologies and enhance how care is delivered.”
