WEST FRANKFORT – Coats for Kids, Inc. will hold its 34th annual Fundraiser and Golf Scramble on Monday at the Franklin County Country Club in West Frankfort.

Registration begins at 7 a.m., and the scramble will run from 8 a.m. to noon.

For 34 years, members of the Egyptian Building and Construction Trades Council have raised money to help schoolchildren across Southern Illinois purchase coats and other clothing items through the Coats for Kids, Inc. organization.

The program is administered by the Regional Offices of Education (ROE) #20, #21, and #30, which cover an 18-county area. These offices handle the distribution of funds and cover all administrative and overhead costs.

Although the golf event is scheduled for Monday, tax-deductible contributions can still be made by calling ROE #21 at 618-438-9711.

In late fall, teachers and school staff across the area request the coats and clothing for children in need in their schools and then go shopping for them.
