CARBONDALE – The City of Carbondale posted on its Facebook page that it condemns any behavior that will make any residents within the community feel uncomfortable or unsafe due to their race, religion, sexuality, gender identity, or any other form of discrimination.

The Carbondale community mourns for all innocent civilians lost in the ongoing conflict in Palestine & Israel, and for our communities impacted in Carbondale and worldwide.

At the request of the community, the City of Carbondale will facilitate a community gathering Tuesday, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at the Carbondale Public Library to provide a safe space for community members to speak to their lived experience and express their grief and concerns.

Following this gathering, a candlelight vigil will be held to honor and grieve the unjust loss of life we have collectively witnessed in the last several months.
